Lento FAQ

Questions about Lento, answered clearly.

How photo calorie estimates work, what you can correct, which phones are supported, and what happens to your data.

AI estimates and accuracy

How does an AI calorie counter work?

An AI calorie counter analyzes a meal photo or description to identify likely foods and portions, then estimates calories and nutrients. Lento also shows the ingredients behind the estimate and an uncertainty range, so the result can be reviewed instead of treated as an exact measurement.

Can Lento estimate calories from a photograph?

Yes. Photograph the full meal in clear light and Lento estimates its foods, portions, calories, macros and available micronutrients. A photograph cannot measure a meal precisely, so the result remains an editable estimate.

How accurate are Lento's calorie estimates?

Lento's calorie numbers are estimates, not laboratory measurements. Accuracy depends on visible ingredients, lighting, portion cues and how a dish was prepared. Lento shows an uncertainty range and lets you correct the result; consistency over time matters more than false precision.

Can Lento recognize homemade meals and restaurant food?

Yes. Lento is designed for homemade dishes, restaurant plates and packaged foods, including meals with several ingredients. Hidden oils, sauces and ingredients may not be visible in a photo, so you can add or correct them before saving the meal.

Can I correct ingredients and portion sizes?

Yes. Open the estimate to change a portion, replace an ingredient or enter a known value directly. Lento remembers saved foods and corrections so meals you repeat are faster to log the next time.

Nutrition and devices

Does Lento track macros, fibre, vitamins and minerals?

Lento tracks calories, protein, carbohydrates, fat and fibre, and can show vitamins and minerals when enough nutrition data is available. These values are estimates for photo-based meals and should not be treated as medical measurements.

How can I log food in Lento?

You can take a photo, describe a meal by voice or text, scan a barcode, chat with the coach, or reuse a saved food. Every method leads to an editable meal before it is added to your journal.

Does Lento work on iPhone and Android?

Yes. Lento requires iOS 15.1 or later on iPhone or Android 8.0 or later. On iPad it currently runs as an iPhone app; there is no web or desktop version.

Does Lento connect to Apple Health and Health Connect?

Yes, if you choose to connect them. Lento can read supported activity, sleep, workout, energy and body data to add context to its guidance. The integration is optional and Lento does not write data back to those services.

Privacy, health and subscriptions

What data does Lento collect and how is it protected?

Lento processes the account, profile, food, photo, chat and optional health data needed for the features you use. It does not sell your data. You can disconnect health integrations or delete your account and its data; the Privacy Policy explains processors, legal bases and retention in detail.

Is Lento a medical device or medical advice?

No. Lento is a nutrition journal, not a medical device, and its estimates and coaching are not medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. Speak with a doctor or dietitian about medical conditions or significant changes to your diet.

How do I cancel a Lento subscription?

Cancel through the store that handles your subscription. On iPhone, open Settings, your name, Subscriptions, Lento, then Cancel. On Android, open Play Store, your profile, Payments and subscriptions, Subscriptions, Lento, then Cancel.
